About
The Tweed Regional Gallery is the region's flagship public art gallery, perched on a hillside at South Murwillumbah with panoramic views over the Tweed River and surrounding farmland. Across six exhibition spaces it shows a rolling program of touring exhibitions, contemporary and historical Australian art, and works drawn from its own permanent collection — and general admission is free.
Its best-known drawcard is the Margaret Olley Art Centre, a faithful recreation of the celebrated still-life painter's Paddington home and studio, rebuilt here using thousands of objects from her actual rooms. Beyond the galleries, visitors will find a café with indoor and outdoor seating and valley views, a gallery shop, a research library, and gardens and lawns made for lingering. It's a genuine cultural anchor for the Tweed and a regular stop for visitors heading through Murwillumbah.
